Our Vision for your child

At Camden Park Child Care Centre, we believe your child has the right to feel safe secure, valued, heard, included and nurtured.

We deliver quality, play-based curriculum in an environment that creates a sense of belonging.

We know early childhood is an important time which is why we offer your child a place where they can wonder, create, experiment and be in the moment.

We’re here to give your child the best start to becoming a lifelong believer in learning, curiosity, creativity, enthusiasm, persistence, confidence, and cooperation

Highly-qualified educators

Our dedicated team has more than one hundred years of childcare experience between them. Many of our educators and been with our centre for over seven years, and some over 20 years. Our educators hold a diverse range of additional qualifications, providing a wide range of skills and talents that help nurture your child’s learning.

Kitchen

The Centre has an experienced on-site cook and a qualified chef who plan and prepare a nutritious and varied vegetarian menu (this does include tuna dishes). Allergies are catered for by kitchen staff.

Your child’s community

Inclusions

We access a government funded inclusion support program to increase our Educator to child ratio in our care, which allows us to implement strategies to be inclusive to all children.

Library bus

Our older children make regular visits to the City of West Torrens community library bus where they can choose stories to enjoy when they’re back in their rooms.

Excursions

Your child may have the opportunity to join a range of outings during the year such as visits to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, Adelaide Zoo, Warrawong Sanctuary and local nursing homes.

Centre visits

We encourage families to get involved by coming to our centre to speak about their skills and professions. We’ve had visits from the fire brigade, police officers, surf lifesavers and more.

History of the centre

Camden Park Child Care Centre is a purpose-built facility. It was established in 1989 in recognition of the need for quality childcare for working and studying families.

The centre initially catered for 33 children, but has been relicensed several times and is now accredited to care for up to 68 children per day. The latest increase occurred when the centre built a self-funded addition to the facility, which is our Tarro-Tarro preschool building. This extension created a customised space of our kindergarten program with state-of-the-art facilities.

Camden Park Child Care Centre is a not-for-profit operation, owned by the Department for Education.

Our philosophy

Our philosophy supports the decisions, policies and daily practices of our nominated supervisor, educators, management committee and staff members, and assists in the planning, implementing and evaluation of quality education for our children.

Belonging: knowing where and with whom you belong is integral to human existence.

Being: recognises the existence of the here and now.

Becoming: the learning and development that young children experience.

“Children start to form their sense of identity from an early age, which shapes the type of adult they will become.” (Early Years Learning Framework 2009)

Your child's learning and wellbeing

Sustainability and cooking

Our centre is a member of the little green steps program and sustainability is embedded into our daily life with activities such as growing vegetables to use for cooking.

Visual art

Your child will have opportunities to explore visual arts processes with the guidance of an educator with a Bachelor of Arts degree. This is included on our extracurricular calendar.

Music and singing

All children regularly gather together to have group singing and musical instrument experiences. This is included on our extracurricular calendar.

Fitness and activity

Teaching your child about what makes a healthy body and lifestyle is important to us. We offer a child-friendly fitness program developed in conjunction with one of our educators who is also a qualified personal trainer.

Careers and training

We value our diverse and highly-educated staff who are dedicated to enriching the lives of our children. In recognition of our staff and their continuous contributions to our centre, we offer above award wages, additional annual leave, higher child to staff ratios and ongoing professional development.
